Snoozing on the Couch

Mom's Recovery

As many of you have been asking, I thought I would update you on my recovery. My blood pressure and heart rate have come down each day. The echo cardiogram that I had yesterday came out normal. My medication has been lowered and we will be monitoring the effects. The doctor hopes to take me off the medication next week. I am feeling stronger each day. Kris has returned to work today and so far Alex and I have been able to manage nicely on our own. He treats his mommy well. Last night between 9 to 9, he was only up for two and half hours! Hopefully, the nights will continue to be that easy! I have a lot of sleep that I need to catch up on.

Birth Story

Well, it’s been about a week now. I’m finally feeling up to posting some details on his birth. I went in Tuesday night, concerned that things just did not feel right. I found that I had high blood pressure, preeclampsia. They did several hours of monitoring and induced labor at 4am. We continued with labor until 9pm until it was decided that c-section was the only option. He was born at 8 pounds, 13 ounces and 20 inches long around 10:15 on Wednesday night. A beautiful, healthy boy! I am continuing to battle high blood pressure and rapid heart rate. I was put on medication yesterday and it seems to be improving. I am able to do a little more each day. I’m looking forward to being able to do more to care for my little one.
