An Autumn Walk

Kris and I both ended up getting home a bit earlier from work, so we went to the park to enjoy the beautiful weather and last of the fall leaves.

my energetic 4 year old, I think he will be a runner one day

We just discovered this trail, a great spot for pictures

One CUTE boy!

Alex wanted to swing through the leaves

And throw leaves, the trick is up not at people

I should have been standing up to take this picture, arrr, so annoyed I missed this one

this is what I get when I say "Alex go stand over there and smile", which then turned into the chicken dance

A World of Discovery

I small indoor "zoo" recently opened near our house.  We were waiting for a cold rainy day to go and Saturday was it.  I have no idea what they feed these animals.  I have never seen reptiles so active.  Usually all the reptiles just sit there, but nearly all of them were pretty active.  My boys typically dislike zoos, but there really enjoyed themselves at this one.  So, we bought a year pass before we left.

Nose to nose with some sort of reptile.  Nearly all of them came up to the glass when you approached their cage.  Have you ever seen this before?  Not I.

I guess Alex does know parrot.  These parrots and the other birds next to them responded to Alex's bird calls too.

Yes, the boring very large turtles.  But, these were actually doing laps around there cage.  I have never seen a giant turtle move that much.

A very large snake, that was moving.  He needs a bigger cage.

What would I do if I actually saw this coming toward me in the wild?

Luke took a "pet" home.  He desperately wanted it and daddy got it for him.  Thank you Alex for being honest about not wanting one.  I thought for sure he would regret his decision when he got home.  But, he never showed remorse.  Luke is still carrying it around.  He tried to eat dinner with it on the table.

Pumpkin Patch

I wanted to go to a local pumpkin patch that also was an apple orchard. Many of the local orchards had no apples, so I wanted to support them as much as I could, as their income has been significantly reduced. They had a yummy doughnuts and a window so the boys could watch how they were being made.

handsome boy, enjoying his doughnut

Luke loved his "chocolate milk".  He orders regular chocolate milk every time we go out to eat.  Alex will not drink it .  He has never drank milk since the day his bottle was taken away.  Yes, he stubborn with great endurance.

Running to the pumpkin patch.  That boy loves to run while the family walks.

Much attempts, but no eye contact was given, oh well, still cute

No, Kris did not dress warm enough and we all had to hear about it.  He was about to get sent back to the car.

The self-timer never fails!

A Trip to the Fire Station

On Saturday, the 29th, we went to a charity event at the local Fire Department.  There were not a lot of kids there.  Most people were there solely for the car wash.  So, the boys got to spend a lot of time looking at the truck and the helicopter.  I guess the helicopter was a bit too foreign or looked like it would take them away.  So, my cautious boys did not go to close to it.  Alex did not want to go up into the fire truck, but Luke LOVED it.  (I don't think Alex believes me that there are more buttons and gadgets up there.)  Alex is very content with looking over the entire outside of the truck and enjoyed watching the firemen wash the cars with the fire hoses.

Lots of gadgets on the outside of the truck

It was loud and very windy, I was a bit nervous we were going to blow away

flying over us

So delighted!

He looks right at home, perhaps a future fire fighter?
