Soaking Up Some Wonderful Summer Weather

The weather was 70 and sunny this afternoon, we decided to enjoy it by rollerblading and having a picnic lunch.

A pause in the rock throwing to look at the canoers.

Rock throwing with Theresa.

Good Morning Kitty

Occupying himself while I make breakfast. He is getting better now with giving her "gentle pets".

Hehe, but after a couple of minutes he just can't help himself and has to give her tail a tug. He laughs when she gives a giant meow. Its such negative reinforcement. She does not do anything if she pets her gently, but when he tugs at her tail or hits her then she makes all sorts of noise. Hmm, you think I can teach Lily to do the opposite?

Happy Birthday Uncle Andy!

This picture was actually taken last month. It is very similar to last years picture, Alex is just a lot bigger. Check back to last years post to see what I mean.

My Favorite Time of Day

Our usual nightly routine, reading through the entire basket of books. His current favorites include Owl Babies and Hand, Hand, Fingers Thumb. We went to Buhr Park today, but Alex wasn't to into the water. They have a toddler pool and of course a regular pool. He attempted both, but barely stayed in the water long enough to get a good picture. Maybe next time, perhaps.

Water Play in the Yard

Alex finally had a chance to play in his pool. We have had such cool weather and it seems like we always had something else to do on the warm days.

Aunt Veronica and Uncle Dominic came over to join in the water play. Alex has not attempted to use this slide yet, but he does like to watch Veronica and Dominic go down. We got for a great price from one of my co-workers. Thanks Joann, it's lots of fun as you had promised!

Botanical Gardens

There were so many flowers and plants and what was he drawn to, the rocks.

So excited to find a small rock on the large ones.

We had a small issue with throwing rocks into the fountain. Not quite as appropriate as throwing rocks into the river at the park. That's a tough one to explain to a 16 month old.

Alex likes to ride in the stroller with no socks or shoes on, hence the reason for no shoes in the picture. I beautiful day for a stroll in the woods, now if only I could find a way to get rid of the mosquitoes.

Oh Beans!

I had some left over beans from a camp I did last year. We turned it into a fun activity today! Only a peds OT would have ten pounds of beans laying around the house :)

Fourth of July

We met up with the Hopwoods at the parade downtown Ann Arbor. Here is Alex and Hunter after the parade. Alex really enjoyed watching the parade, especially the horses, dogs, bikes and trucks.

Alex running down the middle of Main Street after the parade, he really loves his new independence of running around on his own.

After the parade we met up with my siblings who were also at the parade. We went to the Farmer's Market and played on the playground at St. Thomas.

After nap we went to Independence Lake with my family for a cookout at the park.

A new thing the past couple of days, he likes to show off his belly.

They had a little splash zone at the park, even though I didn't have swimming stuff, I let Alex test out the water. He was a little apprehensive, but every once in awhile would run right up to it, get a little wet and come running back. Luckily I had a change of clothes.

Rock Throwing and Rollerblading

Theresa and I took Alex to the park this morning. Alex is getting less tolerant of walks, but enjoys rollerblading because its a lot faster paced. He still gets antsy when we go up the hills though. Here he is getting a little snack while I got everything ready.

Walking down to the river, a stop mid rollerblading to get out some energy (for Alex). Somehow we always leave the house with the same colors on and I never plan it?

Ah, a new trick, throwing rocks into the river. He really liked it, so Theresa took a video. Careful you may get seasick watching it (Theresa had a little difficulty holding the camera steady I guess.)
