A Trip to the Fire Station

On Saturday, the 29th, we went to a charity event at the local Fire Department.  There were not a lot of kids there.  Most people were there solely for the car wash.  So, the boys got to spend a lot of time looking at the truck and the helicopter.  I guess the helicopter was a bit too foreign or looked like it would take them away.  So, my cautious boys did not go to close to it.  Alex did not want to go up into the fire truck, but Luke LOVED it.  (I don't think Alex believes me that there are more buttons and gadgets up there.)  Alex is very content with looking over the entire outside of the truck and enjoyed watching the firemen wash the cars with the fire hoses.

It was loud and very windy, I was a bit nervous we were going to blow away

So delighted!

Fall Photo Shoot

I took the boys to the park a few Mondays ago.  I wasn't really planning on taking these kind of photos, but they were going along with it for once and I took advantage.  I would have dressed them a bit differently.  Alex had on a shirt that was all fuzzed up because I pull-up got in the wash (a clean one).  Ah, oh well one day I will go through and fix it up.  It started cold and then got really warm so, I got the short sleeve shirts out of the diaper bag.  Should have just kept their sweaters on and made them sweat.  But, they would probably not be as happy and would have had red cheeks.  Part of the fun of photography with kids!

Labor Day

On Labor Day, we were thinking of going to the Saline County Fair, but it ended up that it was closing an hour after we arrived. So, we decided to go across the street to the animal rescue place. I've heard of the place, but we never went before. It was amazed it was like a mini zoo. There were parrots, turkeys, peacocks, a wolf, emu, an aligator, some farm animals and a few strange creatures I have never seen before. There was no one else there and the boys enjoyed themselves for good hour and then we found a restaurant that was open to have lunch. It was a nice relaxing Labor Day, enjoying the great weather.

Alex found out that he talks parrot. He mimicked their screeching and then they ALL repeated it back together. He thought it was hilarious and would not stop for the remainder of the time. The large crow like raptors did the same thing. We had the birds all riled up before with left.

Firetruck Muster

We went back to Riverside Park this weekend for the Firetruck Muster. There were many fire engines there, many of them spraying water into the river. The boys really enjoyed themselves, this was their kind of event. We at lunch in downtown Ypsilanti after we had our fill of firetrucks.

Loving it!  A fireman hose all to himself!

Poor Alex, the hat is just too small, they didn't have any adult size hats for his larger than average head

Ypsilanti Heritage Festival

We went to the Ypsilanti Heritage Festival, last Saturday the 18th. We went primarily to for the Gemini concert. They are local children's band, much like our favorite Raffi. I was hoping for an out door festival, but it was in a very crowded tent. So, we listened more than watched and ate our picnic lunch outside of the tent. Afterward we looked around at various booths and exhibits. By far the favorite were the antique engines.
