Happy 4th Birthday Luke!

Luke's birthday landed on a Saturday, so he had a big day.  We had a birthday brunch with the extended family complete with a pancake bar.  Luke was very happy to get pancakes with whip cream and sprinkles!

Luke wanted ice cream cones for his birthday and so that is what he got.  Little did he know you can fill ice cream cones with cake.  He was pretty surprised to see them on his cake.  He said "My cake is like Alex's with Jake, but better".  Well, yes Luke it was made with you in mind, so it's better in your opinion.  (He likes to tease his brother.)

Toppings for the pancake bar

Luke was soaking up the attention, he was saying some pretty entertaining things.  I have a video.

Alex loved the train whistle

Got the cargo train he wanted!

I love all of this attention :)

This was not a birthday present.  It was given to them a few weeks prior. It's a product of dad going to Meijer on a Thursday afternoon for bananas, eggs and bread.

The Last of the SNOW!

We were so happy to see the snow finally disappear after this epic winter.  Somewhere at the end of December it started falling and many inches later, it finally melted on April 10th.  Luke especially was looking for the end.  I think he began asking about mid March when it was going to go away.  He got so disappointed on March 12th when we had our fifth snow day.  He kept talking about sprinklers and shorts.  It's the end of April and it's still pretty cold.  He's still asking when it will be summer.  I heard that is suppose to remain in the 60s most of the summer.  Poor Luke, he may never get that day to play with the hose.  Or he could and just be cold.

St. Patrick's Day

We surprised the boys when they got home on the 17th with a St. Patrick's Day party. We had a craft, scavenger hunt, a corn beef and cabbage dinner and cupcakes. We all had a great time! I love creating these type of memories for the boys (and myself as well). I know it will be all too soon before they are older and this will not be an idea of a good time. Good thing I work with kids so this type of fun can continue for me!

Paint!

The boys typically get out the paints once a week. Alex really loves to paint and is making detailed pictures now. He wanted to make a Lego City shortly after he went to see the Lego Movie. Both of his pictures are hanging in his room. Luke likes to rub it over his body more than actually paint a picture.

Alex's Birthday Party

Alex is 6!

We had a birthday celebration after Alex arrived home from school. Grandma Porter and Theresa came over with gifts. He also got to open his gift from us. We later went out for pizza with Grandpa and Grandma Ericson. He wore his crown from school all night long and even brought it back out for his birthday party.

Very excited to get what he wanted
