Run a thon 2013

Every year Alex's school has a run a thon, which is their biggest fundraiser. (The kids collect pledges for their run.) Kris went to cheer him on and took these pictures. Looks like yet another fun event the school hosts.

Alex's class in the yellow shirts, every class had a theme and cheer, Alex came home singing it all night, it looks like they were martians with ties...

high fives from their fourth grade buddies, they do something with them each week, last week they walked down to the construction site and watched what they were doing, the school does great building school unity, he has second grade buddies as well that they do math activities with
running with one of his student teachers, his class is very lucky to have two of them

Kindergarten Work

Each week Alex brings home all of his work that he completed. He loves showing us all that he did. Here are a couple of my favorite drawings.  Overall Alex really enjoys kindergarten.  His school does an amazing job of making school very fun.  I swear everyday there is something different or special to look forward to.  He comes home singing new songs, talking about syllables, reading new words, new facts he learned about his teachers, etc.

Autumn Afternoons

The afternoons had been so beautiful these past few days. After arriving home from school the boys were eager to play outside until dinner. It's so sad that the colorful trees and the golden autumn sun only lasts a short month. Definitely my favorite time of the year!

Can't Get Enough

We decided there was no better way to enjoy the fall weather, than another trip to Greenfield Village.  It was looking like bad weather, but we figured we would just go to the museum if it rained.  It actually did not rain at all and no one else was there.  But, they were not doing a lot of the scheduled things.  But we still had a great time and got to visit the new playground that opened yesterday which was very cool.

Luke imitating the cow with his horns, goofball!

They had more of their Halloween decorations up, getting ready for their Halloween event.  They told us it is pretty scary and not recommended for little kids, maybe another five years or so.  All these pumpkins had scary faces.  Luke thought it was amazing and started yelling and pointing that there were pumpkins in a tree.

Both the boys love "reading" maps and both have to have one while we are there, as you can see it was really crowded

"operating" the crane

I'm not sure who was more interested in this kris or alex, but it kept them both busy for awhile

Luke was too scared about the big slide, but liked this one, I have never seen a slide built into a hill like this

doing well taking turns, not realizing they were really lucky there wasn't ten kids waiting for them

Alex really liked this.  He always asks if he can have a turn in all the houses where the ladies are pumping water.

The Taste of Fall

We have been putting our membership to Greenfield Village to good use. We went the one of the taste of fall days. They have cooking demonstrations in many of the houses, Farmer's Market, demonstration of plowing the field as well.  The weather was amazing. Alex expecially really enjoyed checking what they were making and collecting the recipes they had out. We have many new ideas for all those apples we had. Including a pork pie that has pork on the bottom and the top half is apples. It was quite yummy, like an apple pie, but with pork in it.

I don't remember what was happening here, they look angry

decent smiles, but now Luke isn't looking, seriously

the boys spent nearly 30 minutes watching these guys

I haven't seen this for years, too much fresh air and exercise

There is nothing better than a sunset on fall colored leaves.
