from the front can't tell so much
from the side, sticking out a bit :)
Since my last baby Phibbs post I have been enjoying not being on bed rest. It has been nice to return to work and get a chance to get caught up and prepared before I leave again. I have been amazed how I easily I was able to jump off the couch and just get back to life. I figured I would really be dragging after sitting around for 11 weeks as I grew larger and larger. But, I have done really well and actually feel better then I did with Alex. But I have gained a lot less weight and am not having blood pressure problems this time around which must be making a difference of how I feel. My hernia pain has finally gone away and now I am enjoying this giant "window" to baby Phibbs. It's just so thin you can feel everything. The other day I was able to feel all his knuckles and actually feel how big his hand was. I little weird I know but its pretty entertaining.
It's not much longer now until we actually get to see him. 30 days or less until baby Phibbs is "evicted". I have a scheduled c-section on April 29th at 8am. Until then it's up to him if he wants to come earlier. I found out yesterday that I am already 1cm dilated and 70% effaced. Hmm, maybe my body learned a lesson with Alex that if you don't do anything that baby gets really big!
Alex is is very aware that his brother is in my belly. The other day we found one of his old baby rattles under the couch. I talked about how his brother will be able to play with that soon. He instantly lifted up my shirt and put it against my belly. He often randomly gives hugs and kisses to my belly. Which is so interesting to me that he knows to do this as I have never told him to or encouraged him to do so. He just decided to on his own. I'm trying to warn him that his brother is going to cry and need to be taken care of by mommy. But, I think this one is going to take a little time to get use to. We'll see how it goes. In the meantime, I have tried to be strict about giving mommy time to get things done while he plays on his own. He actually is getting better about entertaining himself for twenty minutes at a time, which will be very helpful. Alex's language is growing everyday, which makes him more independent and easier to care for as he can quickly express his needs. I'm so looking forward to seeing Alex as a big brother. He'll be a great one!
