Kensington Metropark

We went to Kensington a last Friday, the 17th with Theresa. Luke is obsessed with Theresa and asks for her at least 40 times a day. I think the does more because he is hitting the terrible twos hard these past few weeks and will often ask for things he know he can not have and then throw a tantrum when I say no. I found that humor is the best way to combat this as he can never ignore a good joke and will begin to crack up and stop the tantrum.

Anyway the weather was perfect last Friday. We went to the farm center there, had a picnic lunch and played on the playground. We were there for almost four hours loving the one of the last few Fridays of summer.

Turkeys and Deer

Never know what you will see when you look outside

Saline Summerfest

We went to the Saline Summerfest on the 11th. It wasn't quite summer weather, cold and threatening rain. But, we had a great time roaming around downtown Saline. We didn't make there in time for "touch a truck". We always have trouble moving fast on Saturday mornings.  The highlights were the remote control cars and the live band.  We also had lunch at one of the small diners downtown.

Tiger's Game

Kris and I went to the Tigers versus the Yankees game August 9th, with his work.

I'm a Butterfly, I'm a Flower

Theresa took these pictures on the 8th. Very creative I must say. Alex has taken a new interest in coloring and drawing. He is now drawing actual things not just scribbles. His favorite is balloons for birthday cards. He has made some very nice ones for my grandma and Theresa recently for their birthdays.

Car Wash

I realize water for the bike is not the best thing for it, but cooperative pretend play is a rarity (however is becoming more popular lately). So, I didn't stop it. This was a good hour of fun. Alex was driving the bike up and luke was the car washer. Alex liked getting the spray as much as the bike (which is also a new thing).

These pictures were taken August 3rd.

Grandma Ciolek's 75th Birthday

We went to my Grandma's birthday on July 29th. The kids had fun coloring and eating yummy food. They were awesome even though we came straight from sitting at church.

Hudson Mills Metropark

These pictures were taken July 28th. We ate dinner earlier and then headed to the park to enjoy the beautiful weather. We walked to the river, threw in some rocks, waved to all the dogs and swung for a bit.

My boys! Nothing better than throwing rocks.
Look at that over there
Watch out!
The sweet Alex, taking a rest from throwing rocks to watch people coming over the bridge

Blueberry Picking

These pictures were taken July 27th.  Kris had the day off after we returned from Lake Huron.  It was a nice laid back activity to do when we a bit worn out from our trip.

We have gone back an additional two times since then, giving us enough blueberries for each week.  I think we have two more weeks for the season.  We need to start going to begin picking some for freezing.  We've picked about 14 pounds so far, but have managed to eat them all before they got to the freezer.

Serious blueberry eating!
Still looking for more!

Alex has been helping with cooking and baking since the time he could stand on a chair.  He is now getting to a level that I can hand him the ingredients and give him the instruction.  I have to watch if he really put in three like I asked.  But he is great at accurately measuring and carrying out each step with minimal mess.  The other day he assembled a veggie pizza with even layers of toppings after I cut up and laid out the ingredients next to him.  Today he filled in all the muffin papers with next to no spilling when we made banana muffins.  He has some great precision.  Oh boy, I think this boy will be making me dinner in the not so far future!
